update: 16th August 2021
Do hope you are keeping well and beginning to enjoy more freedom and the sun!
Thank you for all your support, it has been great to have you all coming into the pub again.
The ‘Important news’ is that after 21 years, I am retiring from the pub and have sold the business and the freehold property. The purchasers have got one other pub and have a great track record of sympathetically restoring old buildings. So the village will still have its pub!
We had hoped to have a ‘seamless’ handover and keep the pub open as some of the staff are going to work for the new business, however some last minute hitches have made this impossible.
Ade (Landlord & Chef) is going to have a rest and a change of direction after running the pub for 13 years. Thanks Ade! X So now I hand over to the new owners and here is the first message from them.
See you in the bar very soon.
Both myself and Johnnie are delighted to have acquired this historic local pub from Judi and are so excited to be now taking the reins and enhancing it’s beautiful building and delightful gardens. We will be closed from today, Monday 16th August 2021 for a few weeks to make some improvements. Please follow us on our facebook page @whitelioninnthakeham to see our progress over the next few weeks and to hear about our reopening or do look at our website www.whitelion-thakeham.co.uk. For any urgent enquiries do contact our sister pub Amberley Black Horse on 01798 831183 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We wish Judi a very happy retirement and Ade the very best of luck for the future. We look forward to seeing you all soon, Emma, Johnnie and the team at The White Lion Inn, Thakeham.
